Best time of year to visit Seattle, Washington, weather and other travel tips

Seattle has a reputation for being a rainy city. This applies to some parts of the year, but sometimes there will not be a drop of rain. Most of the rain falls during the winter months, so the months between May and November are the best time of year to visit Seattle. The summer months are very popular, which leads to a lot of tourists and higher hotel room rates. Seattle Weather and Temperature by Month

January in Seattle comes with a cool average high and average low temperature between 47˚F (8˚C) and 37˚F (3˚C) respectively. The year also begins with the end of winter and the second with the least amount of sunshine throughout the year with an average of 69 hours.

Coming from the airport

Getting around

There are many ways to get around Seattle, and which one you use depends on what you want to see and do. Downtown Seattle is compact, so a car is not needed: You can easily walk to see the main tourist attractions. Seattle is full of excellent restaurants, many of which feature local Washington state cuisine. Try the seafood at Aqua or Elliott's Oyster House right on the waterfront. Visitors enjoy the variety of shopping options in Seattle. Downtown there are big stores like Macy's, Nordstrom and Tiffany& Company. Other department stores include Eddie Bauer, Filson and REI. There are several shopping centers such as Pacific Place and Westlake Center. Outlets include the Centralia Outlets, the North Bend Premium Outlets and the Seattle Premium Outlets. Neighborhood Guide

The city of Seattle consists of a variety of interesting neighborhoods. Many tourists focus on downtown because it's where many of Seattle's attractions are located, such as Pike Place, Pioneer Square, the Seattle Art Museum, Chinatown, the Paramount Theater and more. Seattle is a popular place for weddings. Seattle Municipal Court judges can perform marriage ceremonies. Seattle offers a wide range of accommodations.There are many upscale hotels in downtown Seattle, although room rates for these hotels are generally high.
